19th June

Set out after work as there had been some action during the day, and radar suggested more coming....

Weird mammatus below, I guess it was just weak and young.

You can see the rounded anvil edges here, they come out clearer in the pic than in real life, it was a mess up there!
On the pic below I zoomed in on a section of cloud and increased the contrast to try and show what it looked like. You can see well defined edges in it, I guess caused by strong wind.
These were in front of the storm pointing away from it, bit odd, and never seen anything like them before.
And these were the storms coming at me, don't look much do they? They are probably the most aggressive storms I have ever come across in this country!
This is a close up of the storm that was over Winchester way, they experienced some bad flooding from this.

This is the one headed my way, very electrified now and bit disappointed I didn't get a lightning shot, it was dark enough to do so, just unlucky. At this point the rain starts, and as I'm high ground I drive forward under the cover of trees. I am less exposed there, but made the error of driving further into the storm. As it hits the winds from the outflow pick up massively, branches start to come down around me with twigs and stuff flying horizontally. I managed to capture the last minute or so on video, wasn't thinking at the time, click here for vid. There were also two bolts of lightning that were so loud, became a bit jumpy after them!
Drove back to my original spot once it had passed, fields had crops torn up, and there was water flooding down the road. Edge of the anvil below.
It'll be difficult to beat that storm this year, some vid caps below.
