2nd April

I have my new Olympus E500, and this was my first weekend to test it. And the weather complied, which is rare but nice. Figured there was a chance of seeing something, so a quick drive to our nearest viewing point and we were greeted with this small but photogenic cb. |

We drove further towards it, but low level clouds were
blocking everything out, and it appeared to be an early trip home. However,
we persevered and things turned out ok. There was a nice updraft on the
cell on the left, you can see the underneath of the anvil spreading out
here.

Here's another one a little later. The anvil is spreading
out quite quickly along with the winds.

Here's a nice solid looking updraft.

And a close up of some mammatus.

Another single cell with an anvil blowing along.

More solid looking cumulus in it's early stages.

And another cell......

And another one! They were obviously everywhere we looked,
and being April the temps were down leaving little moisture and therefore
photogenic cells everywhere!

You can see more forming behind us here. But by now
we'd driven 80 odd miles so it was time to head home. We didn't see any
lightning, or any suspicious lowerings etc, but it was a good chase.
