21st May

Having been reading reports of storms all over the country, it was quite nice to get out and actually see them. As evening approached and the cold air got rid of any excess moisture, we were left with nice crisp cells. Obviously they were dying and the sun was going down, so now it was a race against time to capture them

These are taken from Fleet Pond just around the corner from me, showing nice sold convection.
I hadn't spotted this one as I concentrated on the earlier one, but it made for a nice sight when I eventually spotted it!
Close up of the updraft region, these storms were moving at a fair rate which I believe prolonged them, no messy downdrafts into the updraft region etc.
Didn't take me long to realise this one was getting bigger, which meant it was coming towards me. My car is on the far bank that you can see, so a brisk walk was needed to avoid a soaking.
I decided to try and get under the updraft, but this took some doing. The UK is rubbish for viewing spots anyway, let alone when all the trees are fully green! I managed to stop once by this cabbage patch field, and get a quick shot of the dying updraft region, before shooting off home. A short and sweet chase.
