Went out with a friend last Saturday afternoon (20/06/09) for a walk in the country. I took my camera as you never know what you might see, and I knew there was some water about so might be able to get that filter out again.

Came across this disused horsebox. Now, I could have spent ages working on this, but shots like this aren't really what I can do, so I took a couple and we moved on. Not too unhappy with the result but it's certainly nothing special.

Got to the river which leads up to this house. Looks very idyllic, but it's quite noisy as the water rushes under the house. There are plenty of large trout below us, we saw one water vole and heard another, and had a kingfisher fly under the bridge. I was tempted to slow mo the water, but no bubbles to make it show up. Struggled with the glare on the water but applied a filter in PS to tone it down.
We walked around the corner and I spotted a large bird jump from the ground into the tree. I knew I was thinking 'owl', but refused to believe it and at first thought it might be a cuckoo. But no, it's an owl! The first wild one I have ever had the chance to photograph. It's a Little Owl, which do come out during the day. This shot was fully zoomed in, but I have left it uncropped as it shows it's environment better.

Went through a field with some really good looking cows. I tried to get a nice portrait shot, but every time I crouched down one or two would start heading my way at a trot, which made my heart go a little. This was the best of a very bad bunch, will have to visit them again one day.

This little fella (5 spotted moth or something) stayed put the whole time, it's in these cases I wish I had a macro lens. I did as best as I could, but it's still not as sharp as I'd like it to be. Over exposed the flower too.
Towards the end of the walk we got to the poppy field, and this kangaroo popped up. I guess it shows the depth of the grass more than anything as this roe deer is standing full height. Got the focus slightly wrong on this one, which was annoying. A hard shot to crop too, not sure what else I could have done though.
And one last one of the poppies, really shallow depth of field, looks a little wonky and a bit metallic for some reason, but it's come out ok.
