C O R N W A L L

For Christmas this year my parents came over from Spain, and we hired a couple of holiday homes down in Cornwall (Harlyn Bay). Of course my brother and I took our boards too, and I was hopeful for some nice photo's.

We stopped at Polzeath on the way down, the waves were pretty big. I took this facing away from the bay, the sun came out at the right moment.
I spent the evening taking long exposures in Harlyn Bay, but none really came out that well. I enjoyed the session, but the results sucked.
Next morning (Christmas Day) we walked along the beach, the rocks were really black! We saw at least two couples go swimming with no wetsuits, a traditional thing I guess, not for me.

On Boxing Day we went back to Polzeath for some more surfing. I think 8 of us went in, which was impressive considering it was freezing (the air and the water). I own a really good wetsuit, but the others all hired theirs. They didn't last long, one guy even turned a little blue apparently. The waves were big, so it wasn't easy. After I legged it up the cliff to get the sun going down, only just got there too.
Normally I curse plane trails, but I don't mind this one.
A nice sized set coming in....
The day after we went to Constantine Bay to have a look, it was stunning!
And the waves were good too. Really good offshore winds giving this effect.
How nice does this look? We had our boards and suits in the car too...
But, it was really really cold. There was frost on the sand, and our suits were still wet from the day before. So we walked around the bay instead. Once we reached the other side, we climbed down on the rocks so we were level with the breaking waves. You could see the lips curling over.
Unfortunately the sun was really strong, blowing this picture out.
Still blown out, but a nice sharp wave!
Looks so good from here, the set lining up. But sooo cold...
Noticed the rainbows off the back when facing with the sun, note them in the spray below.
